The Caddie Network is partnering up with an exciting documentary that will be hitting the independent film circuit early in 2019.
“Loopers: The Caddie’s Long Walk,” provides an inside look at the history of golf from the perspective of the caddie.
“We are extremely pleased to be forming this partnership with ‘Loopers: The Caddie’s Long Walk,’” said Merrill Squires, Co-founder of TCN. “The film is beautifully produced and a must-watch documentary for any sports fan. Most importantly, we share the same vision: to honor and showcase one of the most unique professions in all of sports. We believe the caddie voice will resonate and provide a unique perspective to the game of golf for fans, brands and anyone interested in true partnerships.”
From meager beginnings to the respected profession it is today, caddying has a distinct history loaded with colorful characters.

The film takes you from St. Andrews, Scotland – golf’s birthplace – to Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters, where local caddies played a vital role for the world’s top players for decades. It also has the story of Greg Puga — a young Bel-Air caddie from East Los Angeles who fought his way to Augusta to play in the Masters as a Mid-Amateur Champ.
Through the newly-announced media and marketing partnership between TCN and “Loopers,” readers of The Caddie Network (@CaddieNetwork on Twitter; @caddienetwork on Instagram) will have a chance to win prizes through social media campaigns, including a private screening of “Loopers.”
In the film, interviews with caddies, like Carl Jackson, who won the Masters twice with Ben Crenshaw, give a special insight into what caddying was like before it evolved into what it is today. TCN’s very own Michael Collins, America’s Caddie, and a popular ESPN personality, is also in the film.
Best-selling author, and winner of multiple sports-writing awards, Rick Reilly is also in the film, relaying stories of what makes the caddies in destination golf locales like Ireland and Scotland so priceless, leaving visitors with knee-slapping stories to share with family and friends for the rest of their lives.
“Loopers was inspired by the unique relationship between a golfer and his or her caddie, at all levels,” Reilly said. “Our film celebrates the relationship between golfer and caddie. We look forward to the partnership with TCN and showcasing all the great caddie stories from around the globe.”
“Loopers” is produced by Brookwell McNamara Entertainment (Soul Surfer), executive-produced by Gem Pictures and Tiburon Productions 2 (Beyond the Brick, a LEGO Brickumentary) and directed by Jason Baffa.
